Clayton Baker Technical Director

Clayton began his career in broadcasting as a VT operator at MTV Studios in Camden Town, working in a busy dubbing environment across studio shows and tape operations before progressing into roles with Technicolor and Sky.

 

He later transitioned into film dailies and, ultimately, film restoration at Deluxe, where he developed a lasting passion for working with film and archive material. Over time, he built extensive expertise in film scanning, colour grading, restoration, and team leadership, contributing to a wide range of projects including BBC drama series, BFI archive scanning and preservation work, as well as major music and documentary productions for Pink Floyd and The Beatles.

 

Clayton has overseen complex restoration workflows from intake through to final delivery, spanning scanning, grading, restoration, and mastering. Notable projects include the award-winning The Making of Do They Know It’s Christmas? (Band Aid Trust/BBC), colourisation work for Channel 4 documentaries, and high-profile restorations for StudioCanal (Darling), 88 Films (Scum, Magnificent Bodyguards in 3D), Fabulous Films (Dark Star, Paddington Bear), and Powerhouse (Macabre).
