R3store’s Richard Watson Wins at the FOCAL Awards
This year, R3store Studios attended the FOCAL International Awards on the 23rd of June 2022.
The FOCAL International Awards which are held every year were held at The Landmark Hotel in London, where it celebrates archival footage across the creative and cultural industries. From awards dedicated to cinematic features, to the use of footage in innovative and ground-breaking ways; this was a fantastic event that brought together some of the very best in the field.
This year, Richard Watson, our Head of Film and Digital Restoration, received the award for Footage Person of the Year. This was an incredibly well-deserved award for Richard based on many high-profile titles and projects he has worked on over the last year, including The Children's Film Foundation, Play for Today, Guinness Adverts Projects, She Didn't Say No, and many features for Arrow DVD.
With this award, Richard went on to say: "It's a real honour to win this award, and to be recognised by my peers. After nearly 40 years in the industry, this has certainly been the highlight!"
Jo Griffin, COO at R3store said "I'm really proud of Richard for winning this award, for me, he is in that group of unsung heroes who hide all day in the dark and I want to bring them into the light and receive the recognition they deserve."
Undoubtedly, this was an exciting event, and it was a pleasure to see so many amazing people. Here at R3store Studios, we would like to congratulate all the winners this year.
We would additionally like to say a special congratulations to Kate Griffiths and Tess McNally-Watson for their work on The Sparks Brothers, which landed them the award for Researcher of the Year and Best Use of Footage in a Music Production.
It was an incredible award ceremony, and we look forward to attending next year to hear about the latest innovations and see more amazing work using archive film!
