Jan 17 2018

A new year, a new bit of kit!

R3store Studios and Film London are now the proud parents of an MWA Choice scanner, with the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The jointly-owned scanner will allow Film London to digitise small gauge film reels from the London’s Screen Archives network, making unseen material available. At the same time the new arrival will increase the capacity at R3store Studios, with R3store offering training and support to Film London staff.

The MWA Choice scans 8mm, Super 8mm, 9.5mm & 16mm in resolutions up to 2.3K and is one of the leading small gauge scanners on the market.

R3store already operate a Scanity HDR for 16mm and 35mm.

Jo Griffin, COO R3store Studios – “We have enjoyed a long working relationship with Film London and it is a real honour for us to be able to partner together to purchase the MWA Choice scanner. We are very much looking forward to working together. This now allows us to be able to scan all film gauges with the Choice, allowing us to scan all small gauge formats up to 2K.”

Bea Harbour, London’s Screen Archives Manager, Film London – “We are incredibly grateful to the Heritage Lottery Fund for allowing us to aquire the MWA Choice scanner. With their support, we can digitise the wealth of small gauge material donated to the London: A Bigger Picture project, as well as continuing to make the amazing collections of the London’s Screen Archives network available for as wide an audience as possible. We look forward to continuing our partnership with R3store Studios and working closely with Jo and the team.”
